wearable art

Yesterday I went to the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum
in the upper east side.
Right now they have the amazingggg
exhibit of Rodarte clothing.
I never realized how beautifully crafted these pieces were
until I saw them up close.
The fabrics are all so delicate and
the stitching so intricate,
I was sure that these pieces would disintegrate
at the slightest touch.

plaits, please.

After perusing the February issue of Vogue,
I couldn't help but ogle over this excerpt
on plaited hair.
And after the Alexander Wang and Miu Miu
spring looks went complete with a long side plait,
I knew everyone was finally catching on
to what I already adored..

I can't wait until my hair grows, grows, grows,
so it can look just like this.

Okayy dearies.
It's snowing again in New York.
I'm in need of a day indoors,
curled up in bed with a nice book.
Which is just what I think I will do.

a new start

More than a week has come and gone
since my lovely Sunday
of valentine's and chinese new year celebrations.
Also, fashion week has come and gone.
And in the midst of running between
classes and people watching at the tents,
I find myself wanting to shake things up
a bit, my blog included.
The things I like sharing the most
are my photography, written treasures found in old books,
and of course, beautiful clothing.
So I'd like to continue to share my thoughts
on all of these things.
Just maybe not so haphazardly?

Also, I'm sure some of you already know this
about me..but I am very much so a planning
kind of person. I mean, I plan everything
from the chores I have the very next day,
to things I want to accomplish a year from now.
Next summer, as in, summer of 2011,
I'll have graduated from college, and the first
order of celebration is a summer adventure
through Europe with my family.
I've pretty much already mapped out where I want
to go, but I'm overwhelmed by the thought of
what I want to do! So now while I'm in class,
I've taken to day dreaming about where I'll be,
and what I'll be wearing...
and my first purchase for said trip,
came home with me the other day,
in a pretty brown package tied up with string.
It's a forest green silk top from In God We Trust,
and I can only imagine myself
romping around in it in the Peak District of England.
(Dear Parents, this is our first stop. Please take note!)

Anyway, I hope you all have been doing well,
and I promise I'll be back to regular posting soon.
Love you all,
Jess.

love

My darling dolls,
I'm sorry I've been such a
distracted blogger lately.
I've been so hard at work
on my series that it's
difficult to focus on anything else!
But for the time being,
you have my full attention.
What have you all been up to?
If you're following NY fashion week,
what are your favorites so far?
I'm kind of freaking over
Buttttt I'll save some serious fashion talk
for a later date.
Instead, I'll just leave you with a few
new photos from my series.

love you all!

a sad start to my favorite week.

RIP Alexander McQueen
You paved the way for risk takers
and fantastical dreams in
an industry that shies away from a gamble.
Your approach to mixing textures,
structure, and over the top construction,
truly captivated the fashion world
season after season.
You will truly be missed.
