dead animals

We trekked to the history museum.
We played with dinosaur bones.
I'm contradicting myself.
My notebook is lost in space.
Hopefully someone finds it and turns my life into a movie.
Today we decided which actors will play us.
Apparently we're all turning into Disney channel stars.

acto mistico y fantastico.
Todos los deben hacer.
Ahora. VENGA. Ahora!

I escaped

upstate land.
I'm officially back in new york.
Let's take ghost pictures.
And run around in the park.
And go to the zoo.
We'll travel to Astoria
and at least a handful of places in Brooklyn.
But for now, just meet me at 17 Bleecker.

Dita

I've got her on the brain.
Her and her ex, Marilyn.
She exudes classic 40s glamour.
He has a new film coming out.
Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll.
I recently stumbled upon the
 Alice in Wonderland spread that
Annie Leibovitz did for Vogue in 2003.
Maybe that's why Carroll's been constantly
on my mind.

Summertime in Upstate Land.

I can't explain why,
but to me this photo is the epitome of summer in new york.
I always get pretty whacky in summer, especially here.
And there's always a handful of embarrassing stories
you have to share with everyone as soon as fall session starts.
Moments like this make the memories easier to swallow.

The Little Ghost

I knew her for a little ghost
That in my garden walked;
The wall is high-higher than most-
And the green gate was locked.

And yet I did not think of that
Till after she was gone-
I knew her by the broad white hat,
All ruffled, she had on.

By the dear ruffles round her feet,
By her small hands that hung
In their lace mitts, austere and sweet,
Her gown's white folds among.

I watched to see if she would stay,
What she would do-and oh!
She looked as if she liked the way
I let my garden grow!

She bent above my favourite mint
With conscious garden grace,
She smiled and smiled-there was no hint
Of sadness in her face.

She held her gown on either side
To let her slippers show,
And up the walk she went with pride,
The way great ladies go.

And where the wall is built in new
And is of ivy bare
She paused-then opened and passed through
A gate that once was there.

Danny Lyon

from his book, Bikeriders.

He's one of my favorite photographers.
His style of fusing documentary and portraiture is what makes his books so special to me. His photo series of Bushwick, fascinates and inspires me always.

We missed it

we missed it.
Again and again.
The full moon always had that affect on us.

Little ghost, Little ghost.

Through the Looking Glass

And what Alice Found There

By Lewis Carroll.
I had to listen to my photo history teacher defend this man for an entire year.
I don't really think he molested the kids he photographed.
Please move on to someone who actually exudes insanity.

run away

Find me in Brooklyn
We can meet under the bridge
Maybe off the L

For now I'll be fine
Away from every thing else
A short break for now

how

would one go about running TO home?

As a side note, this photo was taken from the set of the 1988 movie, Hairspray. It features Pia Zadora and fellow cast mates. This was the first John Waters film I had ever seen and like it more for what it wasn't, rather than what it was.  What it was can be described as the John Water's version of the 1960s, in pre-segregated Baltimore. What it wasn't was harsh. The character's slapstick drama and cheerful song and dance sort of killed the underlying message. It seems that segregation and other political issues of the time happened to find themselves in the middle of Water's romp just to spark emotions. Or at least a song. Either way, I'm upset to admit it was ever remade.

Everyone has to be somewhere.
So teach me how to be happy here.
Just like you.
