a happy monday.

When I started this blog, I really had no direction as to what I posted.
I wrote about things that interested me, which was, most everything.
It's been almost two years, and my blog still has not gone in just one direction.
I discuss art and photography because those are topics that I come
across on a daily basis.
I include excerpts from literature and poems because...well, I read all the time.
And I share different fashion collections because I love to express
myself through what I wear, and love to look at what everyone in New York wears as well!
All of these things are what inspire me, and while I continue
to write this blog, I will incorporate these various subjects!

Anyway, today (and for the next few days, I believe) is dedicated to fashion.
I had the privilege to preview up and coming designer's collections
in the w29 showroom. All of the girls there, especially Amelia, are so nice!
Amelia showed me through the designer's presentations and
a few really stood out to me.
One of these was Swedish based, Rodebjer.
The pieces, mostly in neutral tones, were so beautifully made.
The laces were extremely delicate and the knits! I wanted to wrap myself in them
right there on the spot. Seriously can't wait to see more of this brand in the future.

These are a few photos from their Spring Collection

And their Fall 2010 lookbook, which is the collection I previewed...

I made some (awful) scans of the lookbook.
They definitely don't do justice to the clothing in person!

Okayyy.
Well! I can't wait to share more of this experience with you all!
Hope you had a good weekend!

something old, something new.

The past few weeks have been... weird.
Have you ever been somewhere and felt trapped?
I've been feeling a bit of that lately. It's strange to be excited for spring.
It usually terrifies me because bad things
always manage to occur in the beginning of it.
So far, so good though.
I'm really just looking forward to the end of term so I can
find myself lying amongst fields and trees somewhere.
But for now, I'll just have to keep day dreaming of such places.

no dogs. two cats.

011096.jpg
A boat, beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July–
021082.jpg

031082.jpg
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear–
051082.jpg

061082.jpg
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echos fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
081082.jpg

101082.jpg
Still she haunts me, phantomwise
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
111082.jpg

131082.jpg
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
141082.jpg

151082.jpg
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die.
161082.jpg

181082.jpg
Ever drifting down the stream–
Lingering in the golden gleam
Life what is it but a dream?

Okay. If I had to choose just ONE fairy tale as my favorite,
it would have to be Alice. I just love the stories.
This is an excerpt from Lewis Carroll's "Though the Looking Glass".
I thought the poem worked beautifully with Sally Scott's Spring 2010 Catalogue.

It's the first day of spring.

style inspiration: Rag & Bone Spring 2010

I'm almost certain spring has sprung.
And while perusing the collections that are finding their way into the stores,
I noticed how I had overlooked the beautiful military ensembles created by Rag & Bone.
So I decided to create my own version for today's wonderfully sunny day.

I can't wait for 100% sandal weather.
Sorry furs, your hibernation has just begun.

pleets pleats

I love all the video lookbooks that designers are putting out there lately!
Samantha Pleet is no exception to this,
and her collection looks simply beautiful in this enchanted forest.

Today was perfect.
It was so warm outside, my friend and I spent the evening
lounging outside of a cafe in nothing but light jackets!
I can't wait until I can go to my own secret waterfall,
and sleep under the stars.

the sleepwalker

dream1m.jpg
There was a moment in time when I had blocked every feeling for you.
dream2.jpg
It was unconsciously done, because I didn't remember half of the events
until I found the journal hidden in an old shoebox.
dream6.jpg
It retold every moment with you, only different from how I knew it.
It told the truth.
dream8.jpg
You were the dream. You were the fantasy. And I wanted to keep you as such.
dream9.jpg
Every bad day, every mistake made where I was to blame,
I had somehow altered in my memory.
dream10b.jpg
You were the hero, and I was the villain.
But you knew that all along.
Why did you stay? Why not escape the nightmare?
dream11.jpg
It was a vicious cycle that repeated itself daily.
And I never saw it coming.
dream12.jpg
Was I always too preoccupied to care?
I probably relied on you to fix my mistakes,
when they could have been so easily avoided to begin with.
dream13.jpg
And when you figured that out, you fled.
You disappeared, back to your own life, your own world.
dream14.jpg
And I carried on as if nothing had changed.
Because in my mind, nothing had. And nothing ever would.
dream16.jpg
I was greedy. I wanted it all.
dream17.jpg
In my eyes, you were only a dream.
